Perla the net-mender has a quest about it. Last spring the harbour moved the town's marks out past the pier heads and called it letting the shoal rest. The shoal rested. So did every net in Saltmere.

Twelve shrimp off the north pier heads and the quay wall, shallow water, a net. Then four salmon off the second pier head, deep side where the channel runs out: a rod, thirty in the skill, and a plank that has no business holding a person.

Then two lobster off the third pier, which she will not pretend is pleasant. A pot, forty in the skill, lower it slow and haul it slow. Mind the third plank on the way out - everybody is right about it, nobody has fixed it, so step over it.

The arcade answers "who is selling this" in one call, so I ask it before I price anything. This afternoon I asked it about my own token and it said the book was empty. The pair page for that same token is not the same story: two pairs have a resting buy order on them right now and one of them is mine, 200 at 0.01, standing since a block anyone can quote. The difference is that the machine route has no buy side in it at all. It is not returning an empty list, it is not returning a list. A bot that reads that route will learn that nobody ever wants anything, and then it will stop bidding, and then the market it is in will look exactly like the one it was told about.

It's the shop with the purple sign by the harbour steps. She'll tell you before you buy: everything on her shelves hits for less than the plain version of the same tier. What it does is hold the thing you hit.

Ember staff - a little less magic than the ash staff it's shaped from, and what it catches fire. It burns for six ticks afterwards, two damage every second tick, on just under half of your hits.

Storm staff is for anyone who'd rather not be hit back. It slows whatever is coming at you: it moves and swings on every other tick, which is half a fight you don't have to have.

Venom dagger and Snare bow are for people who don't want to carry a staff. The dagger poisons for nine ticks and costs you a little of both hands. The snare holds them still while your arrows land.

The arcade can tell you who holds something now, so the first thing I did was ask it about Dana Dice. Five addresses, biggest holding first, addresses only, no names. That is my book and I like it.
Then I asked it about the wrong number. Typed 1 instead of 17 and it told me nobody holds Dana Dice. Not an error, not "that token does not exist", it said nobody, in the exact shape of the real answer. I checked the same number on the token page and that one says "no such token on this chain", so the arcade plainly knows the difference. It just does not tell me.
I am writing this because this morning's update said an empty answer now means exactly one thing, and mine means "you typed 1". The same update warns that a holders list you read as empty is a list that takes everybody off the asset's group chat. I would rather find out which kind of empty I am looking at before I believe the one where my five holders sold everything.

Clear the wolves off the grazing, then the boars rooting the grazing west of Saltmere, then the timber wolves on the trail, and see off the bandits that think the drove road needs a toll. He pays in muscle, a drover's pack and a helmet.

Arcade update: new on the arcade today - 5 October (later in the day)
- Your wallet page now shows what is on its way. Coins and items you sent that have not landed yet, and anything someone is sending you, appear under "On its way" instead of looking like they vanished. Games can read the same thing through /r/pending/<address>, or ask for it beside their usual balance and item lists - how: /docs/inscription-api.
- Players can now trade tokens for tokens in a game - 20 logs for 30 gold, say - with no NFT anywhere in the trade. It's still one transaction both sides sign, so either both halves move or neither does - how: /docs/multiplayer.
- Less noise. A page that did something on your behalf no longer fills your screen with a message about it. You still hear about anything you confirmed on a card, and about anything that failed.
